The Westside Discs Destiny is a super-high-speed, understable distance driver known for its incredible glide and distance potential. While its wide rim and 14-speed rating can be intimidating, its forgiving flight characteristics make it surprisingly accessible for a wide range of players.
The Destiny's understable flight makes it suitable for different roles depending on a player's power level
Intermediate players:For players with moderate arm speed (around 300 feet of distance), the Destiny can be an exceptional distance booster. Its speed and glide will give you some of the longest throws of your life.
Advanced players:More powerful players can use the Destiny for long "hyzer-flip" shots, where the disc is released on a hyzer angle, flips up to flat, and glides for maximum distance. It can also be used as a reliable roller.
Power players:While capable of enormous distance, high-power throwers will need to be careful with the Destiny. Thrown with too much power, it can "turn and burn" without fading back. You may want to use it for tailwinds or for throws where you can dial back your power to 80–85%.
Not for beginners:A speed 14 disc is not recommended for absolute beginners. Players should have a solid grasp of fairway drivers (like a 9 or 10 speed) before stepping up to the Destiny.
Important considerations
Wind:The Destiny is extremely sensitive to headwinds. The wind can easily grab the understable flight plate and send the disc turning over uncontrollably. It is best used on calm days or in tailwinds.
Consistency:The wide rim and understability can make the Destiny touchy and require a clean release. However, when thrown correctly, it offers some of the best distance on the market.
Out of production:It is worth noting that the Destiny is reportedly out of production, which may affect availability in the future.
