Innova Mid-Range 4|4|0|3

The Innova Roc is a highly versatile and popular midrange disc in disc golf, known for its accuracy and predictability. It's considered by many to be one of the best and most versatile midrange discs ever made.

Key features
  • Versatility: The Roc can be used for a wide variety of shots, including drives, upshots, straight shots, hyzers, and anhyzers.
  • Dependable Flight: It is known for its ability to hold the angle of release, even into a headwind, and delivers a reliable fade at the end of its flight path. Backhands thrown flat will fly straight with a slight turn before the fade kicks in, reaching distances of 280-350 feet for experienced players.
  • Stability: It is an overstable midrange disc that beats into an understable midrange over time. This makes it ideal for players who "cycle" discs, meaning they carry multiple Rocs in varying stages of wear to achieve a wide range of shot types.
  • Popularity: The Roc has been a staple in the bags of many disc golf legends and world champions, including Ken Climo, Ricky Wysocki, and Philo Brathwaite.
Roc variations
The Roc comes in several variations and plastics, each with slightly different flight characteristics:
  • DX Roc
This is the most common and affordable Roc. It has excellent grip but beats in relatively quickly, losing some of its initial fade and gaining turn over time. Innova says DX plastic offers great grip at a great price.
  • KC Pro:
Named after Ken Climo, a multiple World Champion, this Roc offers more durability than the DX plastic. It starts out overstable and beats into a straighter flyer,.
  • Star Roc: This plastic offers a blend of durability and grip, similar to the Pro Line but with more longevity. Star Rocs are known for their comfort in the hand and feel broken in right out of the box.
  • Champion Roc: This is the most durable of the Roc plastics, known for its high performance and longevity. It is also the most overstable of the Rocs, meaning it will resist turning over even with powerful throws. Champion Rocs have a thicker flight plate than DX Rocs.
  • Roc3: A faster version of the Roc, the Roc3 is a speed 5 disc with a similar flight path to the standard Roc but with slightly more speed and less fade. It is favored by pros for its straight flight and dependable finish.
  • Classic Roc: This is a re-release of the original Roc mold, featuring a smaller diameter and a smaller rim compared to the current Roc. It's a low-profile disc praised for its straight, reliable flight and adaptability for all skill levels.

The Roc is a disc that caters to both beginners and experienced players. Its predictability and workhorse nature make it a great choice for those learning the game, while its ability to be "cycled" into various stages of wear allows pros to execute a variety of shots with a single mold.
