DGA Putt & Apporach
The DGA Gumbputt is a legendary line of "super-soft" putt and approach discs famous for their extreme flexibility and ability to "hit and sit" on any terrain. Unlike traditional plastic discs, these are made from a specialized rubber blend.
There are two primary models in the Gumbputt family:
-
Blunt Gumbputt (The Original)
- This is the most popular version, often simply called "The Gumbputt". It was the personal putter of choice for the father of disc golf, "Steady" Ed Headrick.
- Flight Numbers: 2 | 2 | 0 | 2.
- Flight Style: It is surprisingly stable and holds its line well against light winds. Inside 15–20 feet, it flies dead straight with a predictable, heavy fade at the end of longer shots.
- The "Stop" Factor: Its signature feature is ground control. Because it is so soft, it absorbs impact, folds on landing, and virtually eliminates roll-aways on hills.
- Chain Grabbing: The rubbery "Signature Line" plastic is designed to wrap around chains rather than bouncing off them.
-
Powerdrive Gumbputt
- A more specialized approach version of the mold.
- Flight Numbers: 2 | 2 | -1 | 0.
- Flight Style: It features a more beveled edge than the Blunt, giving it slightly more speed and an understable (right-turning for RHBH) flight path.
- Best Use: Ideal for "touch" approach shots where you need the disc to flip to flat and then drop dead near the basket
